Mr. Hiroaki Konno (top) worked as a swimming trainer before the March 2011 tsunami hit the northeastern coast of Japan and destroyed the school he worked at. After the storm, he was able to open a swimming school of his own with support from our small business recovery program.

As the three-year mark of the disaster approaches, we’ve helped 300 entrepreneurs — like Mr. Konno, Ms. Tsuda and Ms. Tazaki — rejuvenate their economies and heal their communities by getting small businesses back up and running.
