Photo of the Day: Our founder Dan O’Neill sits aboard a knocked-out Syrian tank during a tour of Golan Heights during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Dan writes about how his experience living in the Middle East influenced his vision for Mercy Corps, which he would go on to start in 1981:
“I determined that we would engage the Middle East to educate the American public, assist survivors of conflict and promote dialogue and peace-building.”
